Our Work

Through our work we aim at lifting families of blue-collared workers from poverty. As education is the biggest leveler, we provide the children of poor families access to quality education. As pandemic made schooling online, the most suffered were those who belonged to the lower economic strata. We did our best to not let the digital divide affect the quality of education of poor children

Equal weightage is being given to ensure health care. Despite working for 12-14 hours a day, a car driver or gardener in a big city usually struggles to make ends meet. Things become worse for them when unexpected expenses related to healthcare occurs

Steps towards a hunger-free world

Food is one of the most basic requirements and it is a grim reality that many of our fellow beings are struggling to manage to get two meals a day, particularly since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Ranju has initiated a slew of measures to ensure food to people looking for it. The warm responses towards the food distribution programmes conducted by Ranju in various parts of Delhi each month reinstate the relevance of more such initiatives.

We truly believe, all these efforts are our baby steps in the direction towards achieving the ‘none remains hungry’ mission.

Smile of Success

Scoring good marks, Nisha always earned the appreciation of her teachers and made her family proud. She instilled hopes of a better tomorrow in her poor parents. But her studies were badly affected when the classes turned online in the aftermath of pandemic.

Buying a laptop, a tablet or a good phone to ease her studies was not something easily affordable for her low-income earning parents. She, as other children who belonged to lower income category, started to bear the brunt of digital divide.

However, Nisha’s struggle didn’t last long. Letting her dreams to take wings again, Ranju team reached out to her and provided a free laptop. A year later, Nisha proved how well she deserved this aid at the right time. She topped her 10th exams with a 10.00 GPA. Her smile of success and how that smile spread to her family members is making Ranju team more responsible towards children like Nisha.

Nisha was one among the 10 children in Delhi who received laptops provided by Ranju.

Defense against Covid

By the second week of June 2020, most of the lockdown restrictions were lifted and life started to limp back to normalcy in the national capital. People in general and those belonging to the marginalized sections in particular were relieved as the opportunity to work became possible after a long while.

However, many were observed giving scant regard to the calls to wear mask and maintain social distancing. It’s in this pretext, the team at Ranju decided to make quality mask freely available to the most vulnerable sections of the society.

As a first step, we made about 1000 double-layered cotton masks carrying infographics. The masks were distributed among the highly vulnerable communities which include road sweepers, vegetable vendors, construction workers and house maids.  As part of their daily life, these people are supposed to interact with many outsiders and their first line of defense against Corona is wearing a protective mask.

Warmth of Sharing

It’s said sharing is caring. During the onset of winter, the team at Ranju tried to do exactly this. We collected winter cloths and distributed them among daily wage labourers, construction workers, and the homeless. And the warmth was palpable at all distribution sites. People thronged to receive the gently-used clothing, new blankets and woolen for babies and kids.

In general, winters are tougher for the poorer sections. While those who have the means to protect themselves from the cold using heaters and other warming equipment, the less privileged, particularly the homeless, are forced to suffer the harsh climatic conditions. There are people who can’t even afford to get a pair of winter cloths to protect themselves or their kids. By providing the winter clothing, Ranju was making an effort to reduce their hardships.

More such initiatives are on the pipeline. Support from all corners is essential for such initiatives aiming at making this world a better place to live for all.
